Whew! What a year 2020 has been for the whole world! Here in Costa Rica, everyone is awaiting tonight’s celebration with more anticipation than ever. New Year’s in Costa Rica is always a big event, and although group celebrations will be limited this year, people can’t wait to bid farewell to 2020.
This year, New Year’s will be brought in with an air of new hope and enthusiasm toward the future. So, before we sign off for the holiday weekend and head to the beach to catch the last sunset of the year, we wanted to give you a glimpse at how people in Costa Rica will be spending tonight’s celebration.
Most government and private offices close for anywhere from 2-3 weeks right before Christmas, as people take off from the city in search of some R&R among nature, usually at the beaches, which are generally packed this time of year! Regardless if New Year’s is spent at home or at one of the many beach towns, including our beautiful Manuel Antonio Beach, New Year’s in Costa Rica is definitely a family affair. Costa Ricans typically gather with large groups of family and friends at home or at a Manuel Antonio vacation rental or other vacation villas along the coast.
The celebration starts by watching sunset at the beach, then heading back to the vacation rental to start cooking, all while enjoying music and a little dancing to set the mood for the night’s celebration. Dinner is enjoyed late, normally around 10pm so everyone has time to digest and wait for the midnight fireworks, which can be enjoyed all over the country. A typical dinner consists of carne asada or grilled meats, along with roasted pork leg, pasta or potato salad, corn on the cob, and a fresh salad. For dessert, a cinnamon-spiced, rice pudding or tres leches (three milk cake) can’t be denied!
Although this year’s celebration will be a little different as the beach gatherings and public fireworks shows have been cancelled, the air of excitement can still be felt and no doubt the new year will be brought in with happiness… After all Costa Rica knows how to embody the pura vida lifestyle in all situations!
And for our American visitors who we have had the pleasure of hosting at Villa Perezoso this week, they will enjoy dinner with our chef and have opted to try some Costa Rican traditional dishes to ring in the new year in a different way! Their morning was spent on a private catamaran and snorkeling cruise, followed by afternoon massages at the villa. Aside from several private tours and activities and complete relaxation at the villa, their holiday vacation has also been packed full of monkey sightings, scarlet macaws and toucan visits. What better way to spend the New Year’s holiday?
So, for now, we will sign off, but before we do, we wish you all a happy and healthy start to the new year. Never have we been happier to say: Pura Vida & Feliz Año Nuevo!
It’s green season in Costa Rica and everyone at Villa Perezoso has been busy between rain showers getting the villa ready for our upcoming holiday season and for the 2021 year that lies ahead. What a year this has been… After closing down for 8 months due to the pandemic, we endured Tropical Storms Eta and Tropical Storm Iota, but thankfully all is well at the villa, and in our surrounding area, and we are looking forward to a wonderful holiday season and a much better 2021!

Are you ready to travel again? This year has proven difficult for those of us who love to travel and revel in the joy that travel brings to our lives. We all know that vacation can provide you the reset you need as well as a fresh perspective when you return home.
If you’ve already had the pleasure of visiting Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica then you know that there is far too much to see and do in this fantastic town than what you can possibly experience in just one vacation. On the other hand, if you are new to the Manuel Antonio vacation scene, you may be wondering what the best things to schedule for your vacation are. Regardless of your travel style, there is something for everyone! Here, we’ve highlighted some ideas for the perfect Manuel Antonio vacation itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival to Costa Rica
Upon arrival to Costa Rica, one of our private vans can pick you up at the airport for about $200, depending on your group size. Charter flights are also available. The arrival process is seamless as our concierge can pre-coordinate an airport handler to assist you with collecting your baggage and going through Customs. Following that, the airport handler arranges for the van to be waiting for you right as you exit the airport. Once in the van, you will sit back and enjoy a scenic 2.20-hour ride to Villa Perezoso. You may even sip on drinks or munch on snacks along the way, if you have pre-ordered these with our Concierge. What better way to travel than with a drink in hand and amazingly beautiful scenery!
If you fancy sightseeing along the way, there are a couple of great stops. One is the Tarcoles Bridge or “Crocodile Bridge” as it is commonly known. This is the perfect pit stop and allows for observing large crocodiles in their natural habitat. Another great place to stop is in the town of Jaco. Here, you are just about 1 hour away from Manuel Antonio.
Upon arrival to Villa Perezoso, you will be greeted by our warm staff and a welcome cocktail! Once given the introduction to the villa, you will settle into your relaxing first night at your beautiful tropical villa. Perhaps a dip in the pool, dinner with our chef or a soak in the roof-top Jacuzzi will be the perfect way to bring on this vacation in style!
Day 2: Manuel Antonio National Park
You are sure to wake up to the sound of monkeys or scarlet macaws. Morning coffee can be enjoyed while observing wildlife and taking in the view of the Manuel Antonio National Park. Once you are ready to head out, we think the perfect way to get your bearings is to take a private guided tour of the park. Here you can enjoy one of the world’s most beautiful beachfront national parks and observe a plethora of exotic wildlife species. After your tour, stay inside the park and enjoy the many beaches that are available to visit. You will surely feel like you are in paradise here! After your visit to the park, either head back to the villa for a relaxing rooftop sunset or perhaps you’ll want to visit one of our favorite sunset restaurants in town. Just ask our Concierge for the best travel tips and local hot-spots…
Day 3: Zipline Adventure
Ready for a bit of action? No vacation to Villa Perezoso is complete without a zip through the rainforest treetops. This is a favorite among many visitors and is sure to give you a thrill and put a smile on your face! Plus, you’ll have great photo opp’s to remember for many years to come. For those who prefer something a bit more mellow, there are plenty of other options to partake in, such as hiking, visiting the calm waters of the Biesanz Beach or simply relaxing poolside and enjoying the view. Either option you chose will be complete with great scenery. Afterward, you’ll once again be ready for sunset cocktails or for dinner with our chef at the villa. Time to sit back and allow our chef to pamper your every whim and provide you one of the best and freshest meals you’ve ever had!
Day 4: Surfing
Costa Rica is known for having great waves and for being a fantastic place to learn to surf, to continue practicing, or for those who are already expert surfers. With several different breaks and locations available just a few minutes from the villa, your concierge can help you determine which option is best for your group, and can line up a surf instructor for private surfing lessons or get board rentals for you. For those who don’t wish to engage in surfing, we can have a tent, chairs and a cooler set up for you so you can observe while kicking back on the beach!
Day 5: White Water Rafting
Manuel Antonio offers fantastic rafting in Class II or III rivers very nearby. A ¾ day or full day rafting trip is a great way to spend one of your vacation days, and comes complete with a chance to get out into the countryside and experience the excitement of rafting. This day is best combined with private chef services upon return to the villa, as you will be arriving back just in time for sunset!
Day 6: Catamaran Sunset Cruise
Enjoy the Manuel Antonio coastline from a different perspective. Catamaran cruises can be private or public, and offer a wonderful opportunity to get out on the water, do some snorkeling and cruise the coastline. Dolphins are often spotted as well as other sea creatures. The calm waters of the Manuel Antonio coast will lull you into utter relaxation as you soak up the beauty of the coastline! Once off the boat, you may want to head back to the villa for some pool time and then perhaps head out on the town for a farewell dinner!
Day 7: (A Regretful) Departure from Paradise
All vacations must come to an end, and your departure will be as sad for our villa staff as it will be for you having to leave paradise! After a farewell with our staff, one of our private vans will pick you up and take you back to the airport, or you can also choose to take a private or regional flight back. No doubt, everyone at Villa Perezoso will be sad to see you go, but will look forward to seeing you back again soon!
Mother’s
Day in Costa Rica is a national holiday and is normally celebrated every year
on August 15th. This year in order to boost national tourism, the
government has moved the official holiday to Monday, August 17th so
that locals, along with international visitors, can enjoy a long weekend to
celebrate. Costa Rica is a strong matriarchal
society and this holiday weekend will be spent like so many others; Either by
sharing a big family meal at home with some of Costa Rica’s most authentic
dishes, by taking Mom out to eat for her favorite food, or perhaps by taking a trip
to the beach! The latter is certainly a favorite
among both urbanites and those who live on the coast, and no doubt after being
in lock-down for several months, everyone is enjoying getaways to the beach to
soak up the rays of sunshine and the feeling of wet sand on their feet. In addition to relaxing strolls on the beach,
many families will take adventurous hikes through the rain forest in search of the
exotic wildlife Costa Rica offers so abundantly. So, in anticipation of Costa
Rican Mother’s Day, we wanted to honor several of the animal species special to
us here in Manuel Antonio. Of course,
there are many, but chose four of our favorite mammals, and started with the
revered sloth. After
all, Villa Perezoso, or “The Sloth Villa” was named after these beloved animals! And no less special to us are the 3 species
of monkeys commonly seen in the trees surrounding Villa Perezoso.
Sloths
Just like the other baby mammals, sloths prefer to stay with their mothers while they are young. There is a very close bond between
mothers and babies, and baby sloths love to hang on their mother’s fur. Baby sloths will cling
to their mother’s belly until they are able to feed themselves, which can take
anywhere from five weeks to six months. Once they have learned to
feed themselves and they stop dangling from their mother, little sloths will
continue to stay alongside their mother for two to four years, depending on their species. These amazing
creatures have a life span of about 20 years and spend most of their life
sleeping! Sloths have a very low metabolic
rate and therefore sleep about 20 hours per day and only travel about 40 yards
per day amid the rain forest canopy. Since
they don’t move much, it is always a very exciting sight to spot a sloth with
her baby in the Manuel Antonio National Park. Baby and momma sloths can often
be seen right outside of Villa Perezoso enjoying some bites off of one of their
favorite trees, the Guarumo tree, which
are planted all around the villa.
Howler Monkeys
Mother howler monkeys care for their young for about 12
months after they are born.
Female offspring remain in their
natal group and therefore stay
with their mother long after
they are independent. The average age of howler monkeys ranges from
between 15 and 20 years old. These
fascinating creatures are considered the largest Central American monkey, and
they live in the upper canopy of forests and love to be alongside the coast,
making Costa Rica an ideal location for them. Howler monkeys are not especially active
compared to other species of Central and South American monkeys. They spend a
lot of their time just hanging out, sitting on their branches with other
members of their group, which range in size between 10 and 20 members, but can occasionally
have up to 40. While visiting Villa
Perezoso, you will surely hear the deep guttural sound of these monkeys echoing
amidst the surrounding rainforest! This
howling allows the monkeys to locate each other without expending too much energy
on moving or risking physical confrontation with another troop. You may even
lucky enough to spot a momma howler with her baby!
Squirrel Monkeys
Female squirrel monkeys are responsible for almost all
infant care. Females within a group exhibit birth synchrony and increased
vigilance during the birth season because newborns and infants are particularly
susceptible to predators. In some groups, males also vigorously protect infants
from predators, but in other groups,
where males are on the periphery of the social group, they exhibit no infant
protection. For the first month of life, infants remain in constant physical
contact with their mother, usually being carried on her back because they are
too large and impede movement if they are carried on the front. This is a
common sight in Manuel Antonio where squirrel monkeys live happily amid the
rain forest. During the first five to
seven weeks, infants begin to leave their mother to explore the surrounding
environment and interactions between mother and infant become increasingly
fewer. Infants become independent during the second through fourth months of
life, spending more time with peers or play groups. Some groups are fully
weaned by four months, but others are not fully weaned until 18 months of
age. It’s always a fantastic site to
see these monkeys troupes with their active youngsters jumping from tree to
tree!
White-Faced Monkeys
Last but
not least, comes The White-Faced or “capuchin” monkey. This monkey is often seen in Manuel Antonio
and is known for being “ornery” because it often throws fruits down from trees
or hisses and spits on human observers! The
capuchin lives in troops that can exceed 20 animals and include both males and
females, three quarters of which are females.
The White-Faced are perceived as cantankerous, but actually they are
just highly intelligent and social animals. They are the largest-brained, smartest
monkeys in the Americas. Capuchins are remarkable in many ways, but in the
field of motherhood and child care, they stand out. For starters, they implement a type of “daycare”
system among group members. After a
capuchin infant is born, members will compete to have a turn with the
baby. They will inspect and care for
the baby whenever the mother will permit.
Other group members will even act as “babysitters” and carry the infant
for the mother. Secondly, babies are
known to be regularly nursed by females in the group other than their own
mothers. Finally, the White-Faced monkey
is extremely tolerant of juvenile curiosity and encourages their playfulness and
interaction with other members as they get older. Certainly an interesting comparison for human
parents! Aside from the interesting
facts of parenthood, the White-Faced Monkey is revered for having independently
evolved many traits like tool use that were once regarded as uniquely human, including
rubbing plants over its body in an apparent use of herbal medicines as well as using
tools as weapons and for getting to food.
These are
just a few of our favorite mammals that call home to the surrounding forest
around Villa Perezoso. Of course there
is so much more wildlife surrounding the villa and in Manuel Antonio. Toucans,
Scarlet Macaws and other reptiles abound as do so many other jungle
animals. If you would like to experience
some of these animals in person, contact
us for information on reserving a visit to Villa Perezoso!
As traveler’s look for more ways to maximize on privacy
while still getting out and about on vacation, we thought you would want to
hear about these 5 totally private activities you can do while enjoying your
Manuel Antonio vacation stay with us at Villa Perezoso. With a local industry heavily-reliant on
tourism to succeed, one of the first areas of business for re-opening in Manuel
Antonio was traveler safety. As of
August 1st, Costa Rica will open it’s borders to Canada, The UK and
the European Union. In anticipation of the return of international tourism, we
have highlighted 5 of our favorite private activities.
Manuel Antonio
National Park Tour
Imagine hiking through the rainforest with just you and your
travel group and a guide who has been fully trained in safety standards.
Monkeys? Check. Toucans? Also check. Scarlett Macaws? Of course. Sounds of the
ocean waves lapping against the sand in the back-drop? No trip to the Manuel
Antonio National Park would be complete without it. This fully private tour is a great way to get
outdoors and in touch with nature, without having to face crowds or do anything
too extreme. This is a wonderful
activity for people who like to walk, hike and enjoy wildlife. You also get a chance to stay inside of the
park and enjoy the beautiful and secluded beaches after the tour is over.
White Water
Rafting
Looking for a bit more adventure and don’t mind getting a
bit wet? This fully-private tour is the
perfect mix between relaxation and adventure.
Usually between a Class II and Class III, rafting on the local Savegre
river is the perfect way to get away from it all with your private travel
group. You’ll float down areas that will
feel like a “lazy river” and then you’ll
have some excitement on some of the areas with rapids, plus you’ll take
a short hike to a waterfall and then have a fully private, a-la-carte lunch
back at the rafting lodge.
Coastal/Sunset
Cruise
Feel like sitting back and being pampered on a private boat
while sipping a beverage and taking in the beauty of the Manuel Antonio
coastline? If so, this exclusive tour is
for you. Complete with a chef on-board,
you’ll be served drinks and lunch or dinner based on your selected tour
time. Enjoy searching for dolphins,
watching the sun set at sea, and touring through the different beaches of the
Manuel Antonio coastline. There is no better way to relax than on a
private boat in one of the world’s most beautiful places!
Hiking Trails to
Manuel Antonio beaches
Great for exercise and nature lovers, just a few minutes from
the villa are some of Costa Rica’s most breath-taking (and calorie-burning!)
trails. Complete with sweeping ocean
views, rain forest canopy and exotic wildlife, hiking here is a great way to
get out and experience the area’s natural beauty. Trails run the length of the Manuel Antonio
coastline and swerve in and out and up and down the various mountains along the
way. Visits to semi-private beaches are included at almost every stop, so don’t
forget to wear your swimsuit under your hiking clothes! Guides are available
for those who don’t want to navigate themselves. Either way you go, exploring the Manuel
Antonio coastline on foot is a spectacular activity to experience!
Jet Ski
Get out on the water and up close with the Manuel Antonio
coastline. Enjoy beautiful coves and
docking at a semi-private beach for snorkeling and swimming. Jet skis tours can be done in the mornings or
the afternoons and will be exclusive for
your group and the guide. No better way
to be out on the water than on a jet ski!
You can also do private yoga and pilates classes, either at
our local wellness center, or out on our yoga deck overlooking the Manuel
Antonio National Park. Of course there are so many other fun and relaxing vacation
activities to do here, but these are a few of our favorites! So, if you’re in
need of a change of scenery, but reticent about getting outside of your travel
bubble, no need to worry any further! We’ve got you covered…
Sea View from pool at Villa Perezoso, Manuel Antonio
For many people travel brings them joy, and they will
continue to explore the world and find happiness through travel, even if it
means doing so in new ways. As travelers
seek safety amid social distancing and new norms, the travel industry is
adapting by focusing on more privacy, dedicated staff throughout guest stays, vacation
activities that allow more time in the great outdoors and more secluded lodging
options. Luckily for Costa Rica, many of
those new requirements have long since been in place! And for those aspects that are newly
required, Costa Rica has been working tirelessly as a destination on modifying
travel protocols to adapt to the current situation. With that in mind, here are 3 reasons why we
think you need to consider Costa Rica and Villa Perezoso for your next vacation
destination!
Enjoyment of the Simpler Things in
Life
Costa Rica
has always had a focus on pura vida
or the “pure life” philosophy. Pura vida is without a doubt the phrase
most commonly used, and can be heard far and wide throughout Costa Rica, but
the saying goes far beyond its simple translation. It’s a way of life and those
who come to Costa Rica and get a taste for it often get hooked and want to come
back for more! Often referred to as a
synonym of hakuna matata, pura vida reflects the relaxed lifestyle
of Costa Ricans, which serves as a model for those of us who live hectic and
stressful lifestyles in our day to day lives.
This term is used as much for a greeting as to bid farewell to a friend or a
stranger alike. It can be an expression of gratitude or satisfaction, and is
most definitely used as a way to say “Everything’s great!”. Pura Vida embodies the lifestyle that
Costa Ricans live; a world where being stress-free and thankful for the simple
things like family, health, food on the table and good friends are far more
important than material acquisitions, certainly a great perspective to have
during the present times we are living!
Connection with the Outdoors
Costa Rica
is a country that is very proud of its natural beauty. Whether visiting our beautiful beach and
rainforest community of Manuel Antonio, or any of the other coastal towns along
the Pacific or Atlantic Coasts, the volcanoes or one of many mountainous coffee
plantation regions, this country always offers a spectacular landscape! Costa Rica travel companies and lodging
providers have long since encouraged its travelers and guests to explore off
the beaten track places, of which the country has plenty! Private tours and activities are readily
available and there is no shortage of wide open spaces here!
Research shows that pre-pandemic people spent more time
indoors than outdoors, and now that trend has shifted as people look for freedom
and the peace of mind that comes from being outside. We know about the healing
power of nature and we know that it is essential for our health and
happiness to get outside, exercise and breathe fresh air, especially in this
current time of stress and anxiety. Right near Villa Perezoso, we have
numerous hiking trails that offer some of the country’s most beautiful views
and a chance to visit many of the beaches that Manuel Antonio offers. What better way to practice social
distancing?
Connection with Family &
Friends
Perhaps
even more important than a love for nature, is the love Costa Ricans have for
their families and their friends. Long revered as the most important thing in
life, strong bonds with family and friends are at the root of everything Costa
Ricans do. We all know that it is important to surround ourselves with family and friends
for support and comfort in both times of joy and distress and studies have
shown that having supportive relationships is a strong protective factor
against mental illnesses and helps to increase our overall well-being and
happiness. Perhaps we can attribute this
to Costa Rica having one of the world’s blue zones, where centurions live long
and happy lives. I think we can all
safely say that many of our greatest joys in life can be associated with times
spent with our loved ones. Why not plan a vacation where your group of loved
ones can share together in complete privacy while also enjoying some different
scenery?
As we face these changing times, we invite you to come to Costa Rica and experience just a little piece of its pura vida and the exuberant nature surrounding our villa. In Manuel Antonio and at Villa Perezoso, you will be able to relax and enjoy travel with peace of mind. By renting Villa Perezoso, your family or group of close friends can practice social distancing amid the natural isolation of the rain forest, while enjoying magnificent views of the ocean. You will be provided the pampering of an all-inclusive resort, but with complete privacy. After 11 years of hosting guests, our vacation home has become a place of solace and relaxation not only for our personal family and friends, but for so many other families and travel groups to Costa Rica. Now, more than ever, we are committed to bringing you a truly exclusive and private vacation experience.
As the world settles into re-opening, it seems that some of
the chaos continues in the United States and around the globe. 2020 has proven to be a challenging and
monumental year, and without a doubt, one we will all look back on in history. There
has never been a better time to stop and think, to look around, and to
appreciate what we have, while also being compassionate to what others may not
have. After several months of shelter in place and closed businesses, many of
us have developed cabin fever, or frustration in one way or another, while at
the same time forming a simpler life and a deeper bond as well as new routines
with the people we share our daily lives with. At this point, we all need
something different we can look forward to. One thing that our families,
friends and our past guests have repeatedly shared with us during this time is that
they are looking forward to future travel plans. For those who love travel as much as we do,
it’s easy to understand that once you have experienced the culture, the
delicious foods, and the richness of nature that Costa Rica offers, it’s
impossible to not want to return!
There is something special about traveling to a new place and then returning later and getting to know it in greater depth. For those who have been fortunate enough to travel to Costa Rica, you have seen it grow and change and yet you can still appreciate the way it holds true to its customs, while revering, more than anything, it’s love for welcoming people from abroad. Travel to Costa Rica isn’t just about the beauty of the country, the extreme pampering you will receive at Villa Perezoso, or the relaxation you will feel while your stress quickly subsides in the “pura vida” philosophy. No, a Costa Rica vacation is about more. It’s about a complete travel experience that allows you to feel at peace from start to finish. It’s a healing process. A healing process from the stress of daily life, from the fast-pace we all manage and from constant interruptions.
Nature is perhaps the greatest healer and the most
reassuring friend we can have. Just a glimpse at one of the beautiful natural
settings throughout Costa Rica will excite you in new ways, while also sending
a wave of calm through you. The natural
beauty that abounds in this tropical country is enough to ease your anxieties and
give you a much greater sense of perspective. Here you aren’t bound by the
trappings of buildings and fancy highway systems or a densely populated civilization.
No, here you can simply relax and be at peace with nature and the beautiful
people of this country we love so much.
And of course, much of the richness of the travel experience
takes place outside of the time you are actually traveling. It happens before
the trip, while you are dreaming of vacation and making your travel plans. It happens
after the trip when you recall all your memories and look at photos, and share your
stories with friends and family. The
travel experience continues as you further research certain aspects of what you
learned and saw on your trip. And the
final stage of the travel experience comes when you start to plan your next
adventure. So, after being cooped up for several months, what better time to
look forward to a future vacation and to plan than now? Right now is a great time to plan your next
adventure and also take advantage of the travel promotions
that are being offered.
Here in Costa Rica, you can travel with ease and with peace
of mind. At Villa Perezoso you can let
your worries subside. From the time you land in this amazing country to the
time you depart, your vacation itinerary will be seamlessly executed, all with
your peace of mind at the forefront of what we do. We understand that part of
your peace of mind comes from the trust you have placed in us as a lodging
destination, knowing that you are going to a location that has implemented security
and health measures, not just at our beloved Villa Perezoso, but also as a
whole country, as a destination that wants nothing more than to welcome you
back! And as we have mentioned before, you can feel comfortable knowing that
our staff, and all of the tourism providers we work with have entered into a
protocol of daily team wellness checks, the use of protective equipment, rigorous
disinfection, safe distancing measures and food safety protocols. So for now, all
you need to do is to get here. We’ll handle the rest. Even making sure that we
point out the daily sloth and monkey visits as you relax and ease into a
rejuvenating and peaceful vacation.
As
re-opening begins to take shape and we start to get out more, we may find
ourselves thinking slowly about our next possible vacation. And while many of us may not be planning to
jump on a plane or take a trip right away, some of us are ready for a
much-needed getaway, while others are still free to dream and to plan for the
future! After all, it’s always nice to
consider options and be reminded of the joy travel has brought us in the past. For those who are ready, or are considering a
vacation in the near future, we want to reassure you that our secluded vacation
home is the ideal location for you as we continue to move through this health
crisis. Not only has Costa Rica been
rated as one of the best locations for its management of the health crisis, but
it has also been noted as one of the safest locations given the steps it has taken
to protect the future integrity of tourism. In addition, with vacation rentals
being rated as safer than hotels in current health surveys, a getaway to Villa
Perezoso may be just what the doctor ordered!
At Villa
Perezoso, we remain optimistic about the future and look forward to
sharing our amazing piece of tropical paradise with you whenever the time is
right. In the meantime, we have been working hard to re-do our operational
details, with your safety and comfort in mind.
During this planning period, we have been re-training staff and
implementing the highest sanitary cleaning protocols. We have worked together with specialists in
occupational health, and are also following standards as recommended by the international
vacation rental association and the CDC.
Our staff have also been instructed on the proper use of masks and
gloves (sloth design included on the face masks!). New cleaning products have been selected and
tested so that each and every guest of Villa Perezoso can feel confident that
the home has been thoroughly sanitized and disinfected prior to their
check-in. At the same time, we will
always insure that staff of the villa are healthy before coming to work each
day. Our top priority, in addition to
making sure you relax (and spot monkeys!), will be keeping you confident and
comfortable throughout your stay.
After 11 years of hosting guests, our vacation home has
become a place of solace and relaxation not only for our personal family and
friends, but for so many other families and travel groups to Costa Rica. We are
more committed than ever to bringing you a truly exclusive and private vacation
experience. And since there really is no better way to practice social
distancing on vacation than staying at a private residence where you and your
group are secluded with dedicated staff, our sincere hope is that we can
continue to
be a place where memories are shared and where vacation experiences will be cherished
for many years to come.
We look
forward to connecting with you again, sharing the serenity of Costa Rica and its
amazing nature with you, and once again appreciating the joy of travel. When
you are ready to travel, we’ll be ready to serve you as we’ve done since we
opened the doors to our home in 2009. If
you decide you’d like to visit soon, remember our current travel specials
for visits now through December 15th.
As we continue to feel the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic and navigate through our lives in a completely different way than we have ever known, we do our best to remain optimistic and remind ourselves that we will prosper again soon. The dramatic impact this has caused in our families, communities and our lifestyle as we once knew it, often feels overwhelming. While it will take time, we will move forward and be able to enjoy many of things we used to, and perhaps even find new hobbies and things to enjoy. In the meantime, it is important to appreciate the simple parts of our lives, and the natural world around us. Perhaps, nature is the one area where we can find complete calm during this storm as there is definitely something relaxing about being in nature.
Here in Costa Rica, Eco-therapy has long been cherished, by both locals and tourists, and is associated with long and healthy living. The benefits of Eco-therapy and the healing power of nature have shown to reduce stress, uncertainty and anger. An ample amount of research has proven that people who live close to open green spaces are healthier and live longer. Well, there is certainly no shortage of open green spaces here! That would explain why Costa Rica is home to one of the planet’s blue zones and has a healthy elderly population.
Accounting for more
than 5% of the world’s biodiversity, Costa Rica is ranked in the top 20
countries with the highest amount of biodiversity worldwide, making it the
perfect place to get in touch with nature and re-charge! Costa Rica is also home
to more than 500,000 wildlife species,
twelve different climate zones (all found within a short distance from one
another!) 5 active volcanoes, natural hot springs, hundreds of breathtaking waterfalls
and some of the prettiest beaches in the world.
Costa Rica also has wetlands
and coral reefs, and a total marine surface that is ten times bigger than the
land surface. Surrounded by all of this, how could you not feel good in this beautiful
country?
At Villa Perezoso we are privileged to
be in a prime location, just a few minutes on foot to many of Manuel Antonio’s best
shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, yet situated right in the heart of the Manuel
Antonio rain forest. Our back patio and pool area, as well as upper viewing
deck and Jacuzzi offer some of the best wildlife observing opportunities that
exist in Manuel Antonio. There is no
need to ever leave the villa to enjoy visits from three of the four total primate
species present in Costa Rica. The endangered white-faced capuchin monkey, the
squirrel and the howler monkey pay frequent visits to guests of Villa Perezoso.
What could be more special than observing this level of nature in their natural
habitat right from your villa balcony or swimming pool? For those who haven’t
experienced it, there is nothing quite like listening to the deep guttural calls
of the howler monkey echoing through the forest. Then, of course, there are the
toucans, scarlet macaws, and sloths that are impossible not to be energized by!
Just 5 minutes away from Villa Perezoso, we have the famous Manuel Antonio National Park, where many of Costa Rica’s exotic flora and fauna live. The park is renowned for its vast diversity of tropical plants and wildlife as well as meandering jungle and beachfront hiking trails. Set against a backdrop of paradisaical beaches, a walk on one of the trails promises to captivate your senses. Not in vain, the Manuel Antonio National Park is the protected area of the country that receives the largest number of national and international tourists annually. The magic of the beach and the greenery of the forest mixed with the buzz of exotic animals all come together in one place, and the result is a natural paradise that you won’t soon forget.
With all this in mind, what better place to getaway to than Costa Rica? I’m sure we could all use a little Eco-therapy right about now. Whether it be an adventure-filled vacation, a relaxing villa stay or just some tropical R&R, you are sure to go home feeling refreshed and renewed. So, once the time is right for travel again, Costa Rica and it’s natural healing powers will be waiting to embrace you.
