There are several ways to get to Manuel Antonio from either the San José airport or a San José hotel.

By air:

Sansa airlines (FlySansa.com ) and Nature Air (natureair.com ) both provide flights to Quepos from San Jose.  The flight is approximately 18 minutes.  The last flight departs San Jose around 2:00 pm. We will be happy to help you with flight arrangements.

By car:

Car rental
Many guests rent a car in San José, and we can assist you with that. A 4x4 or SUV is recommended. Rates vary depending on the type of car and the season. Once your villa reservation with us is confirmed, be sure and tell us you need a car, what type you want and we will make the arrangements for you if you prefer. Be sure to print this page out so you can bring the driving directions below with you.  It’s about a three to four hour drive from San Jose International Airport.

Private transport service
We can arrange for a private van pickup either at the airport or at your San José hotel.  The van accommodates up to 12 guests. Return transportation to the airport is also available.

The price for transport service from San José Santamaria International Airport is $175 (one way); for San Jose hotel pick up it is $200. Return trips are available for the same price.

Driving Directions from
San Jose International Airport to Manuel Antonio
(Approx 3-3 1/2  hours)

• From the airport, take the first exit to Alejuela (you will need to exit to the right as this road doubles back) then stay in the left lane to San Ramon. (DON'T take the second exit to the right that says Alejuela). You should now be on the Panamerican Highway (Costa Rica 1) going in the direction of San Ramon / Puntarenas.

• Take the exit to Atenas / Punta Leona, exit right off Costa Rica 1 and turn left onto Highway 3 (going over the Panamerican Highway). You will be on this road for about an hour. Though this is a beautiful drive over the mountains, it is important to pay close attention as the road has many curves and one- lane bridges and traffic can be held up by large trucks.

• The curvy road through the mountains ends in San Mateo. Before you reach San Mateo, you will see a sign that reads 'Manuel Antonio 111km'. Shortly after this sign, the road will turn right. Follow the curve to the right for 1 block and turn left at the next block. You will now drive between a church (on your left) and San Mateo Park (on your right). At the end of San Mateo, you will see another sign that reads "115km to Manuel Antonio" (don't let this confuse you!).

• At this juncture you are in the town of Oratino which time wise is the half- way point to the Villa Perezoso. Oratino has many restaurants and fruit stands along with a gas station and bathrooms.

• At the end of Orotina, you will exit to the right. 500 meters past the Oratina traffic light you will turn off to the right following the sign that reads "Quepos/Manuel Antonio/Jaco".

• There will be another turn indicated by a sign that also reads "Quepos/Manuel Antonio/Jaco". You are now on a straightaway road for most of the remainder of the trip. Be careful of your speed. If you see a car/truck driving from the opposite direction that is flashing its lights, they are warning you that a police is parked off the side of the road with his radar.

• Landmark Note: You will soon come to a long two-lane bridge which is called "Crocodile Bridge". Stop before the bridge on the shoulder of the road at the restaurant at the foot of the bridge, lock your car and walk to the center of it. (It is advised that someone stay behind with the car and its contents!) You'll see some very large Costa Rican crocodiles sunning themselves below.

• The next "major" town you will drive through is Jaco, you will need to slow down through parts of this town. Once you pass Jaco you have about 45 minutes to an hour left to reach Quepos/Manuel Antonio.

• On this part of the drive you will pass through Playa Hermosa and then you will approach the town of Parrita where you will need to cross the one-lane Parrita Railroad Bridge. Take care in crossing the bridge.

• The next town you will drive through is Paquita. About 500 meters past the gas station (one of three in the Quepos area) you will cross another one-lane bridge known as the Paquita Bridge. Again, take care in crossing this bridge.

• 1 Km after the Paquita Bridge, you will reach the "Collegio de Quepos" which is located at the outskirts of Quepos. Keep right.

• About 400 meters past the "Collegio de Quepos", you will pass the second gas station in Quepos. 1 kilometer from here is the last one- lane bridge which takes you into the center of Quepos.

• From here, take the road that veers to the left towards the town. You will see signs for Manuel Antonio Natlonal Park (you will be taking a left off this road); follow the signs directing you to the Park. You are almost home!

• Drive 4 kilometers. You will be getting close to your final turn off once you pass Banco Promerica on your left and the new six story salmon colored building on your right. Keep driving; soon, on your left, you will see the Byblos Hotel...slow down as you will be taking a sharp right onto the gravel road, Pacific Canyon Drive, which is directly across from the Byblos.

• Follow this road approximately 350 meters. You will pass Spa Uno on your left. Continue, right past the large white house on your left is the Villa Perezoso. Feel free to park in the covered parking and check in with the lobby. We hope you have a wonderful stay.
