Manuel Antonio is paradise. That’s how we saw it the first time we visited. Enchanted with the expansive vistas, entertained by the vibrant wildlife, and soothed by the slower pace, we knew we had found our ultimate vacation destination in Costa Rica.

As an ex-entrepreneur, I was ready for a change of scenery and a different type of challenge. When we set out to find the ideal location, Manuel Antonio stood apart from other places. Yes it’s lush and beautiful and pristine, but what makes it truly special is the people that inhabit this area and small country. Their commitment to preserving this national park and its thriving ecosystem convinced us that we could make a home here and contribute to the environment’s well being.

We purchased land on a hillside and began construction of Villa Perezoso. Having spent much time in Bali, we wanted to capture the serenity of the island and transport it to Villa Perezoso. The indoor/outdoor living and use of natural materials were just some of the ways that Bali was incorporated into the villa’s design. Our architect did a beautiful job taking our Balinese vision and creating harmonious living spaces that capture the changing light and lush jungle views from every room.

All of the furnishings and accessories were hand selected and brought from Bali. Great care was taken in creating an unparalleled vacation experience. From freshly harvested fruit for tropical cocktails to premium bedding and bath products, the smallest details are tended to by our amazing staff that has become an integral part of our life here in Manuel Antonio and at Villa Perezoso.

My husband and I are looking forward to retiring in Manuel Antonio someday soon. Our daughter recently graduated from Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, California and will be headed to Boston for college so retirement is not too far off!
